Where the Ocean Inspires Action
Indonesia is made of approximately 70% water, being a nation of islands, and is home to a diverse range of aquatic ecosystems. This makes Indonesia a country with great potential as a region of 'Marine Mega Biodiversity'.​ After a successful Grand Opening in February 2020, MERO Foundation began with a simple mission: to protect marine ecosystems and empower coastal communities through research and education. Over time, that mission has grown into a collaborative movement: connecting scientists, students, and locals to create real-world solutions for a sustainable ocean.

2020 - The Beginning of a Vision
Every story starts with a single step.

MERO was born in 202, built from a simple vision to connect science, the ocean, and people. The foundation took its first steps, setting up small corners of what would later become a thriving hub for marine learning.
The pandemic soon arrived, bringing lockdowns and stillness. Yet, within that pause, the MERO team found clarity and purpose. It became a moment of quiet preparation and laying the foundation for everything that would come next.
